Adult

The Christian Education Committee oversees the Sunday School program of First Presbyterian Church.  The mission of the Christian Education Committee is to encourage the teaching of the Bible and growth in Christian faith. The committee shall work to seek the establishment of an outstanding, enriching, uplifting and dynamic program of enrichment and growth for all members.

Sunday School is from 9:45-10:45 (August through May) and 9-9:45 (June and July).

ADULT CLASSES (SEPTEMBER THROUGH MAY)

BALANCING FAITH (Ages 21-35) ROOM 211—Teachers: Scott and Beth Donaldson and Becky Compton—This class is designed for young adults (21+) to explore the Bible, their faith and how it relates to their everyday lives.  Discussion is encouraged.

BIBLE 101 (Ages 30's-80's) ROOM 203--Shared Leadership--The men and women of mixed ages and backgrounds in this class meet each week for an engaging survey study of the Bible or Christian Living topics. This class is primarily lecture format.

COLLEGE  (Ages 18-25)  ROOM 215—Teacher:  Harvey Kline—This college students in this class meet to study the bible and discuss how it applies to their lives.

FAITH MEN'S (Ages 50's-90's) ROOM 204--Shared Leadership--The mature men in this class gather each week for Bible Study using The Present Word as a guide. The class is conducted in a lecture/discussion format.

FELLOWSHIP (Ages 50's-90's) MCGIFFERT PRAYER CHAPEL--Teacher:  Shelley Hancock--The men and women of this class study the Bible and sing together every Sunday. The lessons are presented in a lecture/discussion format.

FOUNDATION (Ages 20's-40's) ROOM 206--Teacher:  Ellen Potts--The men and women of this class meet for study in a discussion format with emphasis on how the Bible applies to their lives. They also enjoy meeting outside of the Sunday School hour for fun and fellowship.

INQUIRER'S (All ages) ALBRIGHT LEADERSHIP ROOM--Teacher:  Charlie Durham--This class meets for four consecutive Sundays, two or three times a year as announced. The class is an introduction to what Presbyterians believe and is designed especially for those who are new to the church.

JOURNEY (Ages 30's-60's) ROOM 205--Teachers:  Sandy Durham--The adults in this class, many with school -aged children, meet for an engaging study of the Bible and books on life-related topics.

MCCAIN (Ages 40's-60's) ROOM 208--Shared Leadership--The men and women in this class meet together each week for singing and Bible study presented in a general discussion format.

PACESETTERS (Ages 40's-90's) ROOM 207--Shared Leadership, Karen White, facilitator--The men and women of this class engage in lively discussion on a variety of contemporary cultural, faith, religious and moral issues.

SEARCHERS (Ages 40's-60's) ROOM 212--Shared Leadership--The men and women in this class seek to discern God's will for their lives through the study of scripture and current literature.

STELLA HARRIS (Ages50's-80's) ROOM 200B/BRANDON PARLOR--Teacher:  Susan Goddard--The women in this class use lecture/discussion Bible study working their way through the Bible one book at a time.

ADULT CLASSES  (SUMMER)

Many adult classes take a break during the summer and participate in the Summer College of Faith for Adults.  Topics, rooms and teachers are listed in the bulletin each week.
