Thomas Herwig

I am a German Protestant theologian and minister, with a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology. I wrote my dissertation about the Swiss Presbyterian theologian Karl Barth and his relationship with the Ecumenical Movement in the 20th century. I am married to Lou Ann Sellers, Associate Pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Tuscaloosa. Since 2008, when I followed my wife to Tuscaloosa, I have been teaching at the Honors College of the University of Alabama in the field of Religious Studies with an emphasis in Political Ethics and Religious Aesthetics, in the beginning adjunct, since fall 2011 fulltime. I am also a father of a son and two girls. I am so grateful for the hospitality of First Pres to host our German church program “First Pres Deutsch”, which has become a home place for German speaking persons in the region.
